Our work has provided assessments for 37 commodities, selected for their economic value, importance and geographical coverage across NSW. A further 14 biosecurity risks were assessed and selected based on their association with the chosen commodities. Emerging commodities and exotic biosecurity risks that could pose a future concern to NSW were also included.
These Assessments will help to inform sound planning, risk management and adaptation decision-making. How the Climate Vulnerability Assessment is being used
Outcomes from the Climate Vulnerability Assessment have been used across NSW to support practical decision-making in climate risk management, biosecurity risk management and land‑use planning.
The project's results have provided insights for climate risk workshops, informed biosecurity management and training programs, and have assisted local governments to make land‑use and strategic planning decisions. Additionally, they have provided essential evidence for the NSW Climate Change Risk and Opportunity Assessment (CCROA) and the Adaptation Action Plan, helping communities and industries to plan for a changing climate.

Climate Vulnerability Assessment Team
This team is delivering an Australian first detailed impact assessment of climate change on primary industries in NSW. This team specialises in climate risk identification, impact assessment and identification and testing of potential adaptation actions for primary industries. Impact assessments have been completed for commodities in broadacre cropping, horticulture and viticulture, extensive livestock, forestry, marine fisheries and some of the associated agricultural biosecurity threats.
