Cherry 2024 will bring together cherry growers, supply chain partners, state industry associations, service providers, research and development agencies, and government representatives from around Australia.

Jessica Fearnley, NSW DPI Development Officer – Temperate Fruits, said that the conference is being delivered as part of the national cherry communications and extension program which aims to increase grower’s knowledge of best practice for increased efficiency and resilience for sustainable cherry production.

“Cherry 2024 will be the industry event of the year, the cherry on top of the communication and extension program.

“The conference kicks off with an export workshop, led by the Cherry Growers Australia Trade and Development team with a lineup of expert speakers who will share invaluable insights and strategies focused on cherry exports.

“Whether you are a seasoned exporter or exploring international markets for the first time, this workshop is designed to present the latest trends, best practices, and practical advice to maximize export opportunities.

“Day two includes a full day of conference presentations and panel discussions on production and practices to improve crop performance and quality, followed by the conference dinner.

“Day three consists of industry tours in the Huon Valley, highlighting innovative orchards, technologies, and best practice management.

“Overall, Cherry 2024 will provide many networking opportunities with a diverse range of growers, packers, exporters, and distributors from throughout Australia who are leading the cherry industry into a prosperous and thriving future,” said Ms Fearnley.

Cherry Growers Australia President Alison Jones, said the conference is an excellent example of how the $180 million Australian cherry industry is benefiting from the new grower-focused communications and extension program.

“This is one example of how we are investing in the industry, sharing best practice, and increasing the information flow through our industry.

“The program and speakers will be finalised and announced soon, and with some great speakers already locked in, I would recommend that those in the industry make the trip to Hobart for a special opportunity to learn and network amongst peers,” said Alison Jones.
