NSW DPIRD QX surveillance and research

To address the many unknowns surrounding QX disease NSW DPIRD has conducted extensive research into the disease and undertaken surveillance throughout NSW. Research was sparked by the detection of QX disease in Port Stephens on 27 August 2021 and later confirmations in February of 2022.

Research was funded by NSW DPIRD with additional funding provided by the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC), NSW Shellfish Committee and NSW Aquaculture Trust.

If you would like to know more about QX disease you can read more on our webpage. Port Stephens growers can also visit Port Stephens – information for Port Stephens permit holders.
