Cook Island lies just off Fingal Head on the northern NSW coast.
You can get to the aquatic reserve by boat, with boat launching ramps available in the Tweed River estuary, Fingal and Kingscliff. The reserve surrounds Cook Island and is located approximately 600 m offshore from Fingal Head and 4 km south-east of Tweed Heads.
Check sea and weather conditions and conditions at Tweed Bar to determine if it is suitable to head out to Cook Island Aquatic Reserve.
Use the moorings provided. If necessary to anchor, only anchor in bare sand and not on the reef or in seagrass beds.
