Planned short share trading freeze to allow quota to be allocated

There will be a short freeze on share transfers in all fisheries between Tuesday 28 April and Friday 1 May 2020 to allow for the allocation and notification of:

  • Ocean Trap & Line quota for Bass Grouper, Blue-eye Trevalla, Gemfish, Hapuku, Pink Ling and Bigeye Ocean Perch,
  • Ocean Hauling (Purse Seine) quota for Australian Sardine, Blue Mackerel and Yellowtail Scad, and
  • Ocean Trawl quota for Tiger Flathead, Bluespotted Flathead, Trawl Whiting, Silver Trevally and Ocean Prawn Trawl Effort,

for the 1 May 2020 to 30 April 2021 fishing period.

During this freeze no share transfers will be permitted.

Any online share trade that involves these species and effort quota that has been initiated but not finalised by COB Tuesday 28 April will be cancelled.

Please ensure that your current and planned share transfers are completed by COB on Tuesday 28 April 2020.

When the new quota period commences the quota available for the fishing business(es) that you are endorsed to work can be checked by viewing the Quota Balance tab in FisherMobile.

Please note that unused quota does not carry over from a fishing period that has ended to a new fishing period, and that quota is deducted in real-time when you make a final catch report. It is important, therefore, that you check your new season quota balance, particularly if you are planning to fish overnight on the last day of the current fishing period.
