New Mobile learning centre bringing Agtech directly into the paddock

The Minns Labor Government is delivering a new era of Agtech education to regional communities, unveilling a brand new high-tech, custom built mobile learning centre designed to bring practical agtech training and support to producers across regional NSW.

The Farms of the Future bus was officially launched in Orange today and is part of the Minns Government’s plan to boost agtech within the booming NSW agriculture sector.

Local school students and producers were the first to step aboard the new state-of-the-art mobile centre and experience virtual reality stations and interactive displays that simulate how Agtech tools function in the paddock.

While onboard, visitors are given a headset or screen to ‘walk through’ demonstration farms and explore equipment such as water tank monitors, soil moisture probes, in-paddock weighing systems and weather stations.

Beyond the VR headsets and digital displays, the learning continues outside the bus, with a large outdoor demonstration area showcasing a range of physical technologies, allowing visitors hands-on experience with equipment to see how it functions in a real-world environment.

Producers can also make the most of Agtech specialists on site who can help identify their challenges, suggest relevant tech solutions and explain how the tools would operate based on the farm’s location, infrastructure and goals.

The Farms of the Future Bus is the latest plank in the Minns Government’s plan to drive Agtech adoption across NSW which also includes:

• Industry specific training courses covering fundamentals through to aspects of new technology.
• Demonstration sites allowing farmers to witness firsthand how devices operate in real farm settings, observe the data collected and understand how farms use this data.
• Agtech Alley which is a designated space for Agtech suppliers at major field days to connect directly with farmers.
• Agtech Toolbox which is an extensive resource offering articles, case studies and how-to-videos.

Following its launch, the mobile learning centre will be available to visit farming communities across NSW. Councils, grower and producer groups, schools and community organisations can register their interest in hosting the bus.

The bus can deliver Agtech training and support wherever it’s needed, whether that’s a paddock, school or local event.

“Many farmers are isolated and short on time, so this mobile learning centre will be a great way to bring the Agtech education courses close to where they live and work.”

“Participating in the Farms of the Future program opened my eyes to the possibilities of how Agtech can make farming more efficient and productive.

“Remote monitoring technology lets me to quickly check my livestock weight and water trough levels, while farm management software helps me manage my stock carrying capacity across multiple distant properties.
