Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development runs a public tender process once a year, around September.  A second tender may be held in the first half of a given year if there is enough interest from industry.

The next public tender is due to be held in September 2026. Details of the tender will be published on this webpage closer to the date. Expressions of interest for new lease areas to be included in this tender should be submitted by 1 June 2026.
