Soil Water Index (SWI)
Improvements observed in the Soil Water Index (SWI) values.
- Long term (12 month) soil moisture deficits remain across a large area of central and central northern NSW.
- Seasonal soil moisture deficits (3 and 6 month SWI) are present across a large area of northern and northeastern NSW, extending down into the Hunter and Central Tablelands and slopes.
- Regions with high SWI values typically have stronger production outlooks, but this should be cross referenced with the short-term dryness indicator.
