DPIRD is keen to understand your industry and how we can work together to reduce the risk of pests and diseases finding their way to NSW.
What’s the project about?
Pests and diseases can find their way into NSW through ports, airports, cruise ship terminals and intermodal facilities. Freight, logistics, transport and intermodal workers can help us to find and report any signs of pests and disease early.
In a research project funded by the Australian Plant Biosecurity Science Foundation, we wanted to understand people’s knowledge, attitudes and behaviours around biosecurity within the post-border supply chain context:
- what steps are taken when an unusual cargo related pest is detected and
- how we can better support post-border pest and disease detection.
