Training
Weed Biosecurity Essentials Certificate
With diverse and difficult responsibilities, NSW weeds biosecurity officers require a unique set of capabilities. The Weeds Biosecurity Essentials is a way of acknowledging the range of capabilities and skills that is not currently captured in a standalone formal qualification. It will provide recognition for weeds biosecurity officers who have completed base-level training needed to work as a weeds professional and Authorised Officer for a Local Control Authority (mostly councils) in NSW
This industry driven initiative will consolidate eight essential training courses, listing them on the one certificate. Once all courses have been completed, participants can apply to receive the Essentials Certificate issued by NSW DPIRD.
The eight training courses listed on the Essentials Certificate are aligned with key roles and responsibilities of NSW Authorised Officers operating under NSW Biosecurity Act.
Courses can be completed through various training providers at any time, and most are already a part of LCA training programs.
